If you are trying to prevent websites from gathering information about your location and your Internet provider, you could try installing Hide IP Platinum. This software is supposed to hide your real IP address by forwarding all your internet traffic through a proxy server. It finds proxy servers automatically so you don't need to do it yourself. You just click "Change IP" in the application's menu and you're good to go. This menu shows up when you right-click the tray icon. Of course, it's recommended that you test your current proxy server, by accessing any webpage that shows your IP.
The program can automatically redirect you to a website, which will detect your current IP, but I don't recommend using this feature. Instead, I would search Google using a search string like "my IP address". Most of the sites I found this way displayed information about my location even though Hide IP was running. The proxies that the program chose for me were the problem. Each proxy forwarded my IP information using a special HTTP header (HTTP_CLIENT_IP).
It's very important to be aware that there are proxy servers that record everything sent to them. They may record any private data, which is sent unencrypted. There is no way to know for sure whether the proxies chosen by Hide IP Platinum are secure. We just have to trust the publisher on this.
